Shades of Gray
Movie Stars, presidents, heads of state. She photographed the last formal portrait of Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco in her palace. That resulted in a commission for an official government stamp portrait of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco. Then there's Sophia Loren, Mexico President Lopez Portillo, President Jimmy Carter, Lady Bird Johnson and Barones Nadine de Rothschild. Her work hangs everywhere from the finest

homes to the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., to the Shakespearean Theater in London. Her talents have graced the pages of Town & Country, Texas Monthly, Ultra and British Vogue, to name a few. No location is too exotic for her talents; from the beaches of Nantucket to the safaris of Africa, she's captured it through the magic of her lens. Gray Hawn is also a fine artist and an award-winning producer of children's documentaries.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
My three children who possess the genuine values and integrity to pursue their dreams. As I sit back and observe them succeed, it brings me joy to know that they're truly making a difference.
Who has been your biggest career inspiration?
Warren Skaaren (writer of Top Gun, Beatle Juice, Batman and others) gave me words of encouragement at the beginning of my career when I most needed it. Coming from such a creative and successful person, Warren's inspiration dissolved my fears and helped me to realize my potential. I learned from him how valuable it is to be there for others as an influential figure.
Favorite Female Subject that has posed for me?
Sofia Loren. She is a radiant woman with unbelievable charisma, enthusiasm and love for life. She was so enjoyable and has so much to share, I could have spent the entire day talking with her.
The perfect evening of entertaining must have?
Hundreds of candles...they create a beautiful ambience of romance and warmth.
Who is an icon in history with whom you most identify?
Claude Monet. His impressionist style and beautiful garden paintings have inspired much of my fine art.
Which ability would you most like to have that do not have now?
I've always thought it would be fun to be a back-up singer for a rock star. I can't sing a note, but I definitely have the attitude!
What is a trademark of your work?
My work captures the emotion and sensitivity of a forgotten time.
Favorite famous male subject who posed for you?
Former President Jimmy Carter. When I was in his presence, I was touched by his purpose and dedication to humanity. I saw in him a great emotional depth and genuine compassion for people.
What is your greatest luxury?
My freedom. After traveling around the world to beautiful and poverty-stricken countries like Africa and India, I always realize how easy it is to take my freedom for granted when I return home.

One word to describe Gray Hawn ?
Compassionate.
What new, creative endeavors can we look forward to seeing in the future?
I'm currently working with Kimmie Rhodes (singer/song writer) on a book entitled Something to Believe in. I'm also very excited about my gallery show debut scheduled for early fall which will feature my never before seen private collection of fine art prints that tell the story of my life experiences through an artistic lens.
